Kara Diaz

Kara's a keeper!

By Natalie Moncrief

Kara Diaz has been a member of the Rock Fitness team for over two years. She is a wife and mother of three young children (and a new puppy!). She is a teacher and an active member in the community. Although she was relatively consistent with running groups, before joining Rock Fitness Kara had gym memberships that she used about once or twice a month (if at all).

Training with our team has changed Kara’s outlook on fitness. She used to dread working out but now looks forward to it. Kara puts her training to work outside of the gym, participating in three Spartan races, competing in two functional fitness competitions (placing 3rd with her husband at one event last year), and running a half marathon.

Kara really enjoys the people she gets to spend time with at Rock Fitness. She embraces the positive and happy environment…even when the workouts are hard people are cheering each other on. The coaches help you to keep going even when you don’t want to. “You won’t find a better group of people to work out with.”

Prior to Rock Fitness, Kara didn’t have any specific goals beyond being “fit”. Once she saw other members performing specific skills, such as linked kipping pull-ups, she decided she wanted to be able to do them…and she did! Kara also developed a desire to be comfortable working with the barbell. Her consistent attendance and willingness to challenge herself has led to fulfilling this goal as well. She now gets excited when she sees barbell work programmed.

If you are considering joining a gym but are nervous about it because the format is intimidating, Kara says, “Just go into it with an open mind…it’s amazing how fast you catch on…everything that we do at this gym can be done by anyone.”
